SAMPLE ITINERARY

Itinerary subject to change to take advantage of special events, unique experiences, festivals, etc.

 

Day 1  

Pick up from the Avignon TGV train station and transfer to our "home base," a high-end boutique property in a charming Provencal town.

Meet your Goût et Voyage escort and fellow guests.

Free time to relax in the beautiful garden, enjoy a dip in the pool and explore your surroundings. 

Tonight's "Welcome Dinner" is a multi-course meal paired with regional wines at our hotel or a nearby

restaurant.

 

Day 2 

After breakfast we'll travel to L'isle-sur-Sorgue, a pretty town built on a network of canals linked to the Sorgue River.

Leisure time to explore the famous Sunday antique market along the quays and in the antique "villages."

Wander the colorful traditional outdoor market, brimming with local produce and speciaties.

Enjoy a leisurely, wine-paired lunch on the terrace of a local restaurant overlooking the river.

Visit the charming nearby villages of Fontaine La Vaucluse and Le Thor.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

 

Day 3 

After breakfast we'll embark upon a full day tour of the villages of the Luberon. Our stops may include the postcard perfect village of Gordes, the ochre cliffs of Rousillon, the castle of Les Baux-en-Provence and the lavender fields at L'Abbaye de Senanque. On the way, we'll stop at local markets and enjoy tastings of olive oil, goat cheese, wine and other delicacies.

Return to our hotel in time for dinner at a local restaurant. 

 

Day 4

After breakfast we'll travel to Aix-en-Provence, a city known for its arts and culture and home of Paul Cezanne.

Our chef will guide us through the market on Place des Pecheurs to purchase the ingredients we'll use to prepare our lunch. We'll return to the chef's kitchen for our hands-on cooking class.

Leisure time for shopping and exploring this delightful city.

Dinner at a local restaurant. 

 

Day 5 

After breakfast we'll travel to the quintessential Provencal town of St. Remy de Provence, closely associated with Vincent Van Gogh.

Our chef will guide us through the outdoor market as we acquire the provisions for our meal. Back in the chef's kitchen, we'll don our aprons for our hands-on cooking class. After a lively lunch where we savor the efforts of our labor, free time to explore St. Remy.

Day 6 

After breakfast we'll travel to Avignon, the geographic, cultural, religious and artistic center of Provence. We'll admire its Medieval ramparts, aristocratic old houses, beautiful churches and the massive Palace of the Popes.

We'll hone our culinary skills during our morning cooking class in a restaurant kitchen.

After lunch, ample free time to explore the charms, sites and shops of Avignon.

This evening we'll dine in a chef's home.

 

Day 7 

After breakfast we'll depart for a full-day wine tour through the Rhone Valley. We'll enjoy a cultural tour of the village of Chateauneuf du Pape and the castle. We'll learn about and taste the justifiably famous wines of Chateuaneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise at several vineyards and during our lunch.

Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant.

 

Day 8

After breakfast we'll head to Vaison-la-Romaine, built along the River Ouveze and amid wooded hills.

On our guided walking tour, we'll marvel at the well-preserved Roman ruins and wander the Medieval town.

After a leisurely lunch, transfer to Avignon TGV late afternoon.
